Proud Polish Electrocar

Poland rises to the path of electric car. Our western neighbor — Poland decided to become a leader in the production of vehicles with zero emissions in the eastern part of Europe.

Our channel found out about the plans for the revival of the automotive industry of this country and assessed the prospects for the release of Polish electric vehicles to the Russian market.

But first the prehistory. During the Socialism, the Polish auto industry was one of the largest in the socialist camp. Here, two licensed Fiat licensed models were immediately produced (Fiat-125P in Warsaw at the FSO and Fiat-126P plant at the factory in Silesia in Tych), and the Pierce «P» meant «Polish». Under the license of the French automaker, Berlier produced Jelcz buses. Also, the Polish auto building was represented by Star, NYSA and ZUK brands, which were known from us.

In post-socialist years, a number of productions have been riveted in the fly, such as the Warsaw Plant FSO, which is still idle. Fiatovsky plant in Upper Silesia is privatized by the Italian company. Also, the German MAN and Japanese Toyota also built their new plants. The first produces trucks, turning the platform under Krakow to the largest foreign enterprise outside of Germany, and the second produces diesel engines for passenger cars.

But even with such large investments, Poland explicitly lags behind its neighbors of Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Hungary, where the production of Western auto-concerns is greater, and their capacity is higher.

Only the transition to electrical mobility will help to correct the situation, which will open up new opportunities for the country.

Back in 2016, the Government of Poland declared plans to increase the park to 1 million electric cars by 2025. This is an ambitious task — today there are about 15,000. But officials hope that growing interest in electric vehicles will contribute to an increase in demand for electric transport. To bring them to the Poland market is ready to distinguish 5 billion zlotys ($ 1.3 billion). But the most important thing is to build your Polish electric car.

For which it is planned to first master the budget segment to make the electromotive system from our Western neighbor.

State Electromobility Poland has developed prototypes of an electric SUV and hatchback under the Izera brand. Models are focused on the budget market, and their release is scheduled for 2023. Design for Electromobility prototypes has developed the Italian company Torino Design.

For cooperation in the Polish Electric Mobilization, overseas partners are needed. Independently, the Poles make their electric vehicles will not be able to build independently cars in due time during socialism during socialism, or trucks or buses, but only by purchasing licenses of foreign models.

Now negotiations come with the German company Volkswagen about using the MEB platform, as well as with Toyota and Hyundai on their architectures optimized for electric vehicles.

Such a position in negotiations with leading foreign car companies supports the Polish manufacturer of batteries and air filters PZL SEDZISZOW. Pzl Sedziszow believes that the government plan for creating and producing two models of electric vehicles will attract more world automakers to the market. And the owner of Pzl Sedziszow Adam Sikorski is confident that new mobility will actually increase the production of cars in Poland.

The head of the State Committee of Electromobility Poland Peter Zaremba reported that Poland wants to get a license for a production platform from a foreign partner to reduce risks. According to him, if you start with small scales, it will allow Polish suppliers to grow with the project, and strengthen their competitiveness. What will also help them in overseas markets. At the moment, the company has already used incentives to attract such Asian battery providers such as LG Chem and Guotai Huarong. And Volkswagen Group stated that he plans to license his electrical platform.

Poland’s Climate Minister Mikhal Kurtka is confident that Poles will support the National Car Brand, and its success can raise the international authority of the country’s suppliers. Even if the project is not crowned with success, he still can give the push of the autocomponent sector.

In general, in two years we are waiting for the Polish electric car.
