Farewell, Russian car

No, no, the Russian Lada brand will continue how the Skoda Czech brand has been preserved, the Spanish SEAT brand, after the transition of these brands in Volkswagen Group. The question is, and how much «Russian» will be a car when moving to the global platform of the Franco-Japanese Alliance CMF-B? It was on it that Russian cars produced in AvtoVAZ will be built in the near future.

As is known, today the domestic automaker AvtoVAZ and his brand LADA will now live and develop on the Renaulution strategy strategy, which was presented on January 14 in Paris.

In the presentation in the «New Horizons for Lada» section it is said: «When creating a business union with Dacia, the Lada brand will benefit from synergies between Groupe Renault and the Alliance. Starting using a very economical and flexible modular CMF-B platform, with which the brand can optimize the quality and use the latest available technologies in its models. » Next, the goal is declared — «not only consolidate leadership in the markets of Russia and the CIS, but also ultimately export products into new markets.»

But this goal requires a separate conversation. Now it is necessary to disassemble an interesting question: how is the car remain nationally when using a global platform?

Domestic giant AvtoVAZ releases cars on four platforms: two platforms for NIVA SUVs (4×4, Niva Travel — ex Chevrolet NIVA), the latest development of Lada Vesta was built on the LADA B / C platform. A separate platform at the Lada Granta model, which leads its pedigree from the front-wheel drive LADA-2108, the trolley, naturally, was improved, but already morally and physically outdated. Also in production cars Lada Largus and Lada Xray, created on the platform of the Franco-Japanese Alliance.

Today, the «Strategy for the Development of the Auto industry of the Russian Federation up to 2025» puts the task of the all-time increase in the localization of the manufactured cars. But the real picture on AvtoVAZ is a rather ambiguous spectacle. Cars built on the foreign platform of the Alliance B0, have the lowest localization in the model range of the domestic automaker. Excluding the so-called. «Hidden imports» model Lada Largus is localized by 27%, Lada Xray is 22%. The new AvtoVAZ model Lada Vesta, built on the domestic platform LADA B / C, but using automotive components of foreign manufacturers, is localized by 47%.

However, the localization level of Lada Vesta is officially declared at 71%. About this, the former AvtoVAZ President Bu Andersson reported Vladimir Putin at the presentation of this car in 2015. Slightly higher models localization

What can be an alternative to the development of the Russian auto industry on global platforms that enlist the low degree of localization? A few years ago, the AvtoVAZ presents the report «Comprehensive Development of Added Value», the author of which was the former Vice President of AvtoVAZ on Engineering Harald Gruber. It says that such an option can be the work on the creation of its own national automotive platform and models developed in Russian NTCs.

In the case of work on such a project, the average level of localization, as indicated in the document, will rise to the output models, at least up to 80%. This would contribute to the creation of approximately 300 thousand new jobs in Russia for 10 years. In the economy, the cost would be additionally created in the amount of 2.5 trillion rubles. The report notes that now (it was 5 years ago) there was a last chance to change the development of the domestic automotive industry.

But after five years, as we see, the choice in the development vector of the largest Russian automaker is made for us and this choice is a global platform. The bid to apply global platforms with some localized components will provide an average level of localization not higher than 30-40%, creating at least 27 thousand jobs and revenue of 1.37 trillion rubles. But it is impossible not to see that most of the revenue will leave abroad and provide there to create new jobs. But now «Rubikon Perid», and there is nothing to regret the missed opportunities. In the «Sails AvtoVAZ» blows the wind of globalization.

In declared unification with the Dacia Romanian brand based on the CMF-B alliance platform, cars will be produced in Romania and in Russia, but the places of the current platforms on which are created

As for the model line, according to the plan, the entire current range of AvtoVAZ will gradually leave the enterprise conveyors in the period 2023-2025.

He will be replaced in 2023 new

In turn, in terms of updating the model line, Romanian Dacia at the end of last year has already begun the release of a new generation of Logan / Sandero. They will come to us under the Renault Renault and stand on AvtoVAZ conveyor.
