When Russia rests on electric cars

Today in the motorist environment a lot of conversations about electric vehicles. Everyone tries on himself, and whether the electrocar will suit him: how many kilometers he drives the day, whether the battery charging is enough for this mileage, etc.

But so far this virtual fitting is not supported by the real development of the electrocarbing market in our country. Only recently, at one of the mobility forums, the representative of the Government of Moscow spoke about the starting city program «Energy of Moscow», according to which 200 general charge stations will be built in the capital.

Official dealers are trying. So, recently it became known about the experiment conducted by the Jaguar dealers. From the car dealership of the brand in Voronezh to the car dealership in Moscow they drove on one charging. It turned out about 600 km. At the same time, the battery charge allowed a few more circles over the nearest of the dealership district of Moscow.

Nevertheless, despite the lag, the electric car market in the Russian Federation is slowly developing. Today in Russia electric vehicles officially sell premium brands Audi, Porsche, Jaguar, as well as Chinese Jac. True, French Renault recently stopped delivery.

However, the most sold model is

The state is trying to start the electric vehicle market, for which it has canceled customs duties on them. The zero rate began to act from the beginning of May 2020 until December 31, 2021. It is used when importing electric vehicles of any age, both legal and individuals. But one cancellation of duties is unlikely to seriously «start» the market.

This is eloquently evidenced by the experience of Norway. Today, in this 4 millionth country, the electric vehicle market is quantified an order of magnitude higher than Russian. Compare numbers. More than 54.3% of new cars that were sold and registered in Norway in 2020 are electric vehicles or hybrids. At the first place

Our northern neighbor Norway conducts a targeted policy on environmentalizing transport. If you analyze the diagram, it turns out that 10 years ago the Norwegian market was a normal European market, where cars with a diesel engine prevailed. But for these 10 years, cardinal changes occurred, Dieselgate passed. It should be noted that clean sources are dominated in the electrical generation of Norway, namely, electricity produces hydroelectric power plants. Therefore, the task was set that the country’s motor transport became environmentally friendly. The results, as we see there are more than half of the car’s sold cars in this country, cars with zero exhaust.

To achieve such a result, various mechanisms and tools were involved: tax, financial, educational, etc. In different countries of Europe, subsidies started from 3,000 to 5,000 euros per car. Without such a initial compensation of the cost, the European electric vehicle market could not develop.

At the moment, the minimum price of the new electric vehicle on the Russian market is about 3 million rubles. (So much is Nissan Leaf). The maximum price is up to 15 million rubles, it is the TESLA models. For the mass purchase of a car on an electrician, the cost of a new car should be reduced to 1 million rubles. In modern Russian reality.

Of course, in our country, far before such a policy. We would raise our own traditional auto industry. After all, while the majority of the population is not as rich in order to afford to buy an electric car.

Also in Russia, an important factor is the technological barrier of the electric vehicle in winter conditions. Therefore, the development of such a market in Russia can occur in a number of southern regions, in particular in the Krasnodar and Stavropol Territories, as well as in Moscow, with a wide network of charging stations.
