The competition between the domestic kamaz and the «large European seven» is moving into a special plane.

No matter how much our country has lag behind the pace and the deadlines for the introduction of strict environmental norms and rules, and no matter how much our freight forwarders were dried toward advanced Europeans, but still on the horizon, the tightening of emissions will be tightened. Today we have the norms similar to EURO-5. Ahead — EURO-6.

Automakers are already being prepared by the time when the norms similar to EURO-6 will be introduced in the Russian Federation. But no matter how paradoxically, the first in this trend in the Russian Federation turned out to be domestic oilmen. In its refineries, they gradually master the release of the fuel of the corresponding Euro-6.

The second were Swedes. Officially, the Swedish automaker on September 1, this year It was reported that the Volvo Group plant in Kaluga successfully coped in the release of the VOLVO FH’s first truck, equipped with an euro-6 ecostandart engine. Thus, the company has expanded the range of goods produced, which was previously limited to the production of ecological class EURO-5 techniques.

Of course, the Swedish automaker is much easier to start the release of its products in Russia, since all competencies have been gained from 2015, when Euro-6 norms entered into force in Europe. They only stay to transfer to the factory in Kaluga and adapt to the Russian operating conditions.

It is more important for us that domestic manufacturers can start producing products that meet the high requirements of ecostandarts.

Domestic specialists are easier to work on bringing their products to high standards. After all, there are world experience in front of them, in particular, the «big European seven», automakers who are on the edge of the requirements of ecostart.

Within the framework of work and in the methods of testing on the closer to the norms of EURO-6, cold and hot cycles appeared, engine test cycles across all load characteristics, as well as evaluation of emissions of harmful substances in the car on the roads of general use under actual exploitation.

As part of the project «Tibet», it is necessary to carry out work on the creation of a family of row six-cylinder engines KAMAZ-910.40 ecological level EURO-6.

«In this project, we must definitely decide on the engine design concept, the optimal engine volume, the degree of compression, choose the properly select components, such as turbocharger, EGR system, neutralization system. Moreover, it is necessary to take the most correct solutions already in the first stage to eliminate the repeated selection cycles of components, tests, and, accordingly, the loss of time. For this purpose, symbiosis of calculating research and tests, as part of system modeling, is used, «says Chief Specialist in the promising Kamaz engines Eduard Alimgulov.

Today the sample is assembled, which passes bend tests. In particular, the EGR system is adaptable (eng. Exhaust Gas Recirculation), which is responsible for returning back to the cylinders of a certain amount of exhaust gases for their final burning. This will reduce the heat generation rate in the engine cylinders, and, as a result, the formation of nitrogen oxides. According to experts, only one EGR system cannot achieve the required EURO-6 norms, therefore it will be a comprehensive solution: with EGR, a part of nitrogen oxides is reduced, the rest must be neutralized by the catalytic neutralization system.

«When all components are adapted and stands are completed, we will conduct tests in the car,» added Eduard Alimgulov. — In the plans — the purchase of portable means of measuring emissions of harmful substances that are installed on cars. Works in the car are scheduled for the next year. The engine launch into mass production is planned for January 2024, a year later the car will go to the series. «

According to the project documentation, it is assumed to issue a whole line of engines with a working volume of 13 liters, with a capacity of 420 to 560 hp.
